How does my build look?

Go to solution Solved by Flight1sim,

I'm not planning to really overclock so I guess the liquid cooling is overkill, so I was thinking of replacing with a fan cooler to lower the price and the Noctua was recommended. So two 140mm in the front and 1 in the back? Only get two stock in the r5 fractal. Btw thanks for your help a lot man! :)

Hey no problem, i'm glad to help someone so polite! :D

so the r5 has one 140 on the front and 1 120 in the back? In that case, you should consider going with a noctua fan for the heatsink, only 1 is really required; but It's okay to go with Push-Pull as well, i'm not really too familiar with noctua fans tho unfortunately :P

But if you go with a corsair fan, i'd say go with an SP fan  for the heatsink

Looks great but those fans... why so many? That super quiet case will end up loud

Also those might not be great for a rad, some people use AF fans for rads *cough* Jay *cough* but i still think go with SP (static pressure) fans for rads

You are one of the very few who actually get a build right with the correct combination of parts, with nothing weird. For that I congratulate you

I'd consider spending $10-20 more in a 750W PSU, so you know there is enough headroom if you ever want to pop another GTX 970 in there.

Also, the fan selection is not really that convincing. The included fans on the case are actually pretty good and you have no sight of the front fans on this case. You can swap the fans on the rad for 2 SP ones (push-pull hardly makes a difference on that rad), and even get a matching one for the rear if you want the aesthetic of it.

Also SSD!!!

How much do you reccommend? I have 4 slots left after I put the liquid cooling in. .. Just realized two stocks so probably tuning it down to two fans. Thanks for your time!

Get a 290. Better yet, wait for the 300 series and buy a real 4GB card.

the 970 still outperforms the 290 despite that little debacle which i honestly though had died down by now. and im pretty sure we are still under the impression until proven otherwise that the 300 series is going to be another rebadge. unless there is new information i havent seen.

Marginally in some games at 1080p. But does better in 1440p and 4K.

It's also cheaper.

The 390/X won't be a rebadge, no reliable information about the rest of the line-up.

There are rumours that the 380X will outperform the 980, so I don't really believe it'll be a rebadge.

Whenever I see a Corsair h100 on an I5 for some reason something in me says its overkill but if you plan on high overclocks its probably fine. its a nice lookin build

Hey man, I don't plan overclocking right away so which cpu cooler would you reccomend? Just going to get the 100i incase in the future I wish to overclock, but unless the i5 doesn't bottleneck my 970, I'm going to leave it at stock. Also don't want it to overheat :3.

Looks good, but I'd swap from the expensive quad core i5 to a less expensive six core AMD Phenom II X6

It won't bottleneck a 970, it won't even get close. Not even 2 sli'd 980s will bottleneck a 4690k.

If you don't plan on heavy overclocking just buy a 212 evo or a better looking cooler such as mine or a bequiet dark rock.

If you do plan on heavy overclocking, dark rock and mine does the job to a point. More than that, you'll need a Thermalright Silver Arrow or a Noctua NH-D15. Both have similar performances to 240mm CLCs.

This is literally the worst suggestion I've ever read here.

Please tell me you're trolling. Price/performance man, come on. I love AMD to death, but the Phenom II x6 chips are even older than the FX chips (iirc), and while I love my 8350, I would gladly trade it for a quad-core i5. Plus, that quad-core has 8 threads. The Phenom II x6 chips have 6 threads. gg man.

The 4690k doesn't have hyper threading though. Still destroys the competition on performance per core.

I'd say at most maybe only get 2 fans, more fans is not necessarily better
