Yup!, but so will the i3 at the same price. 

 

Best choice would be to get a 970/i5 combo.

I see some bottlenecking with my GTX 970 and FX-6300. The answer is yes, the 980, a brand new $500 graphics card, will be bottlenecked by a $100 3 year old CPU

Most definitely.

 

I'd only go as high as a GTX-960 or R9-280x if I had a FX-6300.

 

Go i5-4590, i5-4690k, or i7-4790k if you want or have: GTX-970, 290x, 980, 295x2, or Titan X.
