Right, so I'm getting a little annoyed at my thumbscrews and the fact that I almost lost one or two while cleaning my pc out. Is there any way that I could mod my thumbscrews to make them captive?

Thanks

Easiest way IMO is to notch the panel so you only have to losen them then slide the panel out rather than totally remove them... Doesn't work if the panel needs to slide back to remove it..

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

im pretty sure that you copuld just glue little magnets to them, make sure the magnets are tyni, or glue little peices of metal to them and use a magnetic tray from one of linus' vids about handy tech under 10 dollars or so

it was in episode 6 :link

Computer's don't make errors. What they do, they do on purpose.

Mine doesn't need to slide back (it's a Corsair 350D). Not sure where I would notch the panel.

I don't have access to magnets that small lol. The screws are already metal so they'll work on the magnetic tray but I don't really want something else taking up space on my desk. It's pretty crowded as is.

The holes in the panel, open them so the screw can slide out.. Then when opening the case, you losen the screws but don't remove and it should come out no problem. You may have to slightly bend the back corners of the notch to get a decent hold on the door but the pressure of tightening the screw should be enough..

BTW, you do this at your own discretion, I've done it and it's worked but you do so at your own risk.

So basically take a hack-saw / dremmel and open the hole for the thumb screw just enough for the shaft of the screw to slip through as you open the panel.

I think I get what you mean but the thumb screws are about as wide as that part of the door itself o_O

So the red bit should be removed, just enough so that the shaft can slip out, but the thumb but will still apply pressure to the panel and hold it in place..

If you have to you can slightly bend up the 2 corners left to provide additional leverage for the screws on the panel.

There are retainer rings for the thumb screw but when removing the panel you will need to unscrew it a bit and side the panel back before completely removing the screw and taking the panel off.

Dzzope's idea will also work really well.
