GTA V won't launch

So GTA V won't launch. I get the error code "ERR_NO_STEAM" and tells me it can't detect the steam client, which I have open. The game is fully legit and activated through the social club website (not steam). So I can't figure out what's causing this.

Anyone have any ideas?

have you restarted steam try that

Wait, if you activated it though the social club, and downloaded it with their installer, why is it asking for steam?

 

I got the retail copy with the cd's (because 60gb and my internet dont mix), which should be similar to your copy, and it doesn't need steam open...

ohhhh...It could be that I got the game files from a friend that has the steam version, that could be it?

Probably, because there is possibly a file that wont start the game unless steam is running if your friend had the steam version.

 

Im not sure as to how you would find it/ get rid of it though...
