780 or 9970

I'm wondering since I will be building my computer next month, should I get the 780 or live off onboard until the 9970 comes out to the market? Because I'm going to be using my console and editing video only..

Nobody knows exactly when the 9970 will be out, it is still only rumors. I would think that it would outperform the 780, but we won't know until we see benchmarks whenever it comes out.

 

If you don't have a problem waiting, wait to see which performs better, but if you don't, the 780 will be fine.

Those are just specs. In theoretical performance the 7990 in games should be 20 frames faster than the 690 when in reality they are closer.

Look at these steam prosssors there are over 4000 of them so it will perform 40% faster than ref 7970 and 780 is about 10% faster than 7970.

Its around 15-20% depending on game. I do agree though that the 9970 those look as if it can beat it.

And the specs are wrong.  5GHz effective on a new card when the old standard was 6GHz? 512 bit but 144gbps bandwidth? Should be 320gbps.

It's all speculation until it comes out. No use in comparing something released to something rumored..
