is it normal to get 80~100 watts on gpu-z while gamming ? using r9 285 dual-x oc 2x 6-pin ..and sometimes it hits 111 ~ 120 W  .. and around 5~15 W on idle .. and by running futurmark 1.5 it was 97~105w continously .. so is that normal? or something is wrong here?

but here dude i see avrg is 180w and maximum is 250w ,, and i never hit about 120w ,.. are you sure its normal? :(:S

Try comparing benchmark scores you get to those on some bwebsites. If they're roughly the same, stop caring ;)

i dont benchmark lol .. and not planning to . it was just a test by futuremark 1.5 and the results was 100% load with 97~110 wattage as maximum. and now while playing i get around 70 wattage .. and ye there's kinda cpu bottleneck but really that 110wattage is normal ? .. i dont have to worry?

If you're not going to run a benchmark there's no real way to tell for sure... run something like unigine valley and see if the results look like these: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2014/09/02/amd-radeon-r9-285-review/7

Does it not perform well in games?

i haven't valley benchmark .. also no it doesnt perform well.. its like getting very high fps on empty places with a high gpu load + high core clocks.. and low fps /gpu load/ core clocks wherere's more ppl are around or larger maps ( ye im only playing online games "FPS" and 3rdfps)

using futuremark 1.5 isn't enough? i will give u a screenshot after 30mins testing..

oTEZb.jpg

and the clocks was on 916mhz idk why ..

and this while starting a game ..

aribc.jpg

pay attention to the watts ...

Valley is free for that matter. What cpu do you have? It may be bottlenecking you. If GPU-Z reports 100% gpu usage, the gpu itself should be fine (benchmarks like furmark don't always stress power consumption to the limit, as they don't use a lot of vram).

so the psu is fine i think right?. should i ignore the psu and exclude it?

It really should be fine, if the gpu isn't getting enough power windows will just bluescreen. That's why I highly doubt power draw is your problem. Again, what cpu are you using?

Bare in mind that while a game is starting it doesn't use the gpu much.

The fx 6300 is most certainly bottlenecking your gpu in games. You may want to consider upgrading to a core i5 eventually. That explains why it's underused while gaming.  The random restarts MAY be caused by the psu. Before assuming it's broken however check that all cables are properly pushed in, it's often the case.

Have you checked that all the cables are inserted correctly? I still don't think it's a problem with your gpu.
