upgrading from 2011 socket to 2011-3 / x79 - x99 help

im at sort of a dilema. im planning on my next PC build and not sure if it's even worth replacing my cpu and motherboard.

my current pc is running an x79 asus sabertooth motherboard and an i7-3930k. (which is the 2011 socket). looking into the x99 motherboard i noticed that i cannot use my i7-3930k on it since it doesnt support lga 2011.  im not one with a whole lot of money so im not sure if i should make do with the current motherboard cpu setup i have now and save the ~aprox $1300 CAD that i would otherwise spend on two parts.

any input is appreciated! thanks!

You're wasting your money by going from a X79 to X99. The X79 has plenty of life in it. Upgrade a few years later, when Intel does another socket change.

With your specs, I would upgrade the GPU before the CPU. You will NOT see any CPU difference, I guarantee it. With that Money, I would invest in a few more monitors, and maybe a dual GPU setup.

Its a waste of money unless you really need that 8 core.

Pair of 970's and an Acer predator 27" ips 144hz Gsync.. That'll give you a much better experience than doing anything with the CPU.

It really depends.

The X99 is actually a massive step up from X79 when it comes to professional performance. It's not meant for optimal gaming price-performance. If you're rendering a youtube video every 2 days the X99 upgrade will save you a heapload of time especially if you multi task. If you do any other CPU related work (like non-real-time rendering and autodesk work) the CPU/mobo upgrade will be a godsend, however if you're mainly looking to game X79 is more than enough, if you wanted a stronger IPC for certain games I would recommend a good water cooler or going custom loop instead of upgrading to X99. Also your 670 has massive room for upgrade potential when it comes to gaming. As the newer 970 has arguably double the performance.
