hi, will used my old computer as a backup/media server. and i dont know what is the good backup software out there. here is what i need.

 

1. easy to use.

2. support mac, windows and other device

3. doesn't need to install 3rd party program to the client pc

4. schedule backup.

5. incremental/differential backup type.

6. easy to way of restoring.

7. have full OS backup.

Here's a list from Wikipedia on the subject.

Personally I've used duplicity and rsync out of those. I was quite happy with

duplicity, but if you want to use it on Windows you're going to need Cygwin.

Alternatively, Duplicati seems to be very close to that while running natively

on Windows.

Regarding the scheduling you may need to do that in the OS itself instead of the

backup software, not sure. But that should be pretty easy.

I'm a bit unsure about your last point since I've never tried to back up an

entire OS. Best thing that comes to mind is file system snapshots, but that

would of course be independent of the backup software. I'm not sure if there's

a backup software package which supports that feature by itself.
