Broken HDD?

Hi guys,

Recentlymy seagate barracudu stopped working,

Disk usage went to 100% and the next time i booted up it said somthing along the lines of "CSM error the bios does not support the boot device" eventhough i had no hardware changes, i gave the drive to a friend to test and it worked ok, i got it back and the error persists and the drive makes a beeping noise.

Harddrives don't beep, they can click though, indicating issues with the head. 

 

Run HDTune and run the Error Scan (not the quick scan, the full scan). If it comes up with red blocks, those blocks are damaged and unusable. The Health tab will also help you diagnose the problem.

 

So, run the Error Scan and look at the health tab and post your results here.

I cannot boot into windows and do not have another hdd spare

You could test it with Hiren BootCD and use Seagate Seatools as an alternative.

You will need another computer to find out what's wrong with yours (to download and burn Hirens for one), so I hope you're not the only one in your house
