Hey Linus Tech Tips community,

I am brand new to building PC's, and was looking for some advice on my build. Specifically looking to see if there are any big bottle necks that I am over looking or if there are any suggestions on alternate parts for similar price that would be better. Any feedback would be very appreciated. The top of my price range is $1300 US.

EDIT: This rig is primarily going to be used for gaming.

Thanks again.

Here is the parts list from PCpartpicker.com.

With the 290x am I starting to get into an area where my CPU is going to bottle neck my system?

Nope, not at all. I would consider paying just $30 more dollars for a GTX 970.

Why?

Do I need that PSU? my original PSU is 650W. the estimated wattage required is 502. Do I really need roughly more then a 150w ceiling gap?

Well pcpp can't always be trusted. I would say the corsair PSU is better but up to u

Op ignore they guy, the 290x and gtx 970 are almost the same performance at 1080p. 1440p and 4k, the 290x beats the 970

Dude. 290, not 290x.
