So which is better for gaming and recording mostly with video editing (not primary function) this:

Unless you're running a server then get the i7. Xeons aren't really meant for everyday computer use like gaming and stuff.

Xeons don't inherently have an issue with gaming or anything like that. If the price is right, they're very viable.
