Like everyone else said, Chromebook.

I had the Acer Chromebook for some time and it did me well.

For writing, Google Docs is essentially Word. Comes with excel, presentation, everything that Office has basically.

Music, I used google play ($10 a month, listen to what you want when you want).

Youtube and Netflix worked perfectly on it.

Included a decent webcam.

My friend just bought a new Acer Chromebook from Bestbuy, its white and has touchscreen for $200.

Warning:
If you plan on using the Chromebook on an open network (community colleges have this issue) it won't let you open up docs. Just a heads up. Works fine on any other network besides one that aren't password protected.

Do you mean a network with WPA2 encryption? I know that Chromebooks work fine with my University's encrypted wifi. I don't know about the "unlocked" one.

Open WiFI.

Where you just click connect and you're in, no login, or WPA/WPS/WEP.

This could obviously differ from schools but an issue I ran into. Just giving a heads up.
