This has never happened before but just recently (3-4 days ago) Every server i join my ping spikes up to 400+ constantly and doesnt drop. All the usual servers i used to join worked perfectly but now CS:GO seems unplayable. The things I have tried:

  • Verified game cache
  • Re-installed CS:GO
  • Updated all my drivers
  • Turned off/ Uninstalled all programs that could create lag
  • Tracert to google.com with a steady ms of 20-30

Things i do know:

  • Internet is completely fine, i can browse the web, watch videos.
  • I can play other games such as GTAV fine with no connectivity issues.
  • I use wireless connectivity (Has always worked perfectly fine)
  • Cant connect to modem due to me being to far from the modem

All in all I think there is something wrong with the PC, i don't know what software is causing this or such but i tested CS:GO on my school laptop and I get perfectly fine ping on it playing the same servers.

I do not believe it

I need a fix for this ASAP as i play for a competitive cs:go team and they need me.

Thankyou

My obvious first question as you're using wifi is, has any new electric device been used/installed in your home. (heaters if you're like me and winter has begun early).

I'm going to get a little hung up on the wifi, but another suggestion is that someone else has setup a wifi network that is overlapping yours.

If either of these has happened, my suggestion would be to find a powerline adapter, as you can't run CAT5 cabling. just use the house's electrical wiring for your network communication.
