Adding New RAM to my Computer

So I have some Corsair XMS3 2x 2GB RAM and I want to buy another 2x 4GB of RAM to add to my empty dimm slot. I understand I will need to get the same clock speed for the RAM but will the timing for the RAM also need to be the same if I were to buy another brand?

Yep, you at least need the timings to be the same, for the clock speed, the faster dimms will just slow down to the speed of the slower dimms without much issue there, but having different timings could cause some issues.

i have dimms installed with mismatched timings and they work fine sooo

okay so I guess I will have to learn how to adjust timing for the RAM, since I have never done that before. Thanks for all the replies!
