I am looking to build my first computer in 6 years. A lot has changed since then and I was hoping someone could look over my preliminary build. I plan on gaming on this with the upcoming Witcher 3 as well as Far Cry 4, GTA 5 etc... I would like to spend under $1,300.00 if possible and prefer to try my first intel machine. I have one "ok" monitor but would like to get a second.

With all of the choices out there I am feeling kind of lost. Are these parts sound? Is anything here too good for their surrounding parts or not good enough?

Your time and consideration is very much appreciated.

save some moeny and go with a 4690k because the difference between the two in performance for games i wouldnt recommend cuz you really wont see a performance difference.

Looking good. But if you are not going to do lots of editing of video and stuff, get the i5 4690K. The different in game is about 1~2 fps (seriously spending much more for like 1 or 2 fps?). Don't see storage in it so assuming you will use back your old ones?

Spoiler

Like others have said, go with an i5 over the i7. And take the EVO instead of the PLUS.

Or take the money you save from going for an i5 and get a better cpu cooler with better overclocking headroom. Like a Noctua solution or a h100i.

Main Rig: CPU i7-4790k / MOBO Asus Z97-Pro (Wifi-AC) / RAM 16GB HyperX Fury 1866 MHz / CPU COOLER Dark Rock 3 / GPU Asus GTX 1070 Strix  / CASE Evolv ATX Tempered Glass / SSD Crucial MX200 250GB / HDD  WD Black 1TB + WD Blue 3TB / PSU EVGA 750G2 / DISPLAYS 2x Dell U2414h / KEYBOARD Corsair K70 RGB Cherry MX Brown / MOUSE Logitech G602

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 / i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, GTX 960m, 1080P Display

Awesome! This is exactly what I was looking for. I will look into swapping to the i5 4690K. Also, will swap to the Evo 212. I was just kind of guessing a cooler anyways. I am too scared to move to liquid cooling though. The last time I looked at it was 6 years ago and it really just terrified me.
