ram compatiable?

nzimpossible

this is not a new system i am able to get some new ddr3 ram for free and this is my main choice Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9 http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=405256 and i am wondering if it will work with my current system using a asrock 970 extreme 4 and a fx 8120 at 4.1 ghz. i am a seasoned builder but thought it may be better to ask some one who may know more than i thanks in advance

RAM compadibility as well as other hardware compatibility can be found either in the manual supplied with the board or on the manufacturers website.

My only concern with that RAM is the fact that it has high heatsinks - what CPU cooler do you have? The two may physically/spatially conflict. If this is for gaming, there is no point going with 1866 RAM - 1600 is fine.

I'm not sure if it's changed since phenom II but AMD can be unstable with ram over 1600mhz
