I have a very old computer and have to replace all parts. Going to get a major upgrade soon but I want to get everything early.

Here is my problem I want to get everything early and the only way to do that is to get everything other than the graphics card. What I want to know will the i7 4790k do good or at least playable on games. The kind of games... Stranded Deep, Grand Theft Auto V (not expecting much), and some other games that are not like AAA titles. It will take maybe three weeks to get everything else sol is this a good idea?

 

Update: I am also using this for video editing.

Oh my god that is unbalanced. get a R9 270 at least for adequate gaming if you're going to spend 900-ish dollars on an upgrade, or that card will not give you a fun time.

If you're using a H-series board, you won't be able to OC that K-processor. So upgrade the board, or get a non-K processor to save up some dough (preferably for the GPU)

Video editing may require more than 8 GB of ram, so be careful there, someone else will have to back me up on the RAM situation
