$850 pc?

Go to solution Solved by grayblizzard,

I like it, but.... Could he fit in an i5 4690k to do some overclocking because at microcenter you can get it for $199 and then you get $40 off of a motherboard when you do..

yes but it would be like this

???

wut?? The kingston V300? No sir, that's a crappy SSD. Also, I completely disagree with adding a lackluster CPU cooler to a build that doesn't even need one in the first place.

Drop the SSD and cpu cooler, and get a 280x. The is no need for a cpu cooler and ssd doesn't increase game performance

only real difference between a 280 and 280x is the clock speeds, that can be made up with an overclock.

I would choose an SSD and 280 over a HDD and 280x just for overall system performance.

You can overclock the 280x,

does noise matter?

And no SSD doesn't affect game performance

You can overclock the 280 to match the 280x's clock speed.

It does to me, i dont want a jet engine

A Solid state drive will improve loading times above anything else. It is "flash" memory, and accesses information much faster as there are no moving parts such as the drive head that reads a disk.

yes it does.

SSD's affect loading times, not raw FPS. That 100% deals with RAM, CPU and GPU. NOTHING ELSE. The storage does jack squat for it.

The 280x can be overcLocked as well...

Thats what i meant oops.

Well then he doesnt need to spend $70 on a shorter loading screen, when he could put that money into a better GPU for more raw FPS.

For the last time... The 280x is just a factory overclocked 280. You're spending more money on an overclock.

It's actually 900$, AND it's worse than mine. But aside for that, really solid build.

What is MIR? Some kind of tax American use or what?

Mail In Rebates is the following: imagine that something costs 100$. That's the price without MIR. Now, imagine that you ask "can you sell me for 90$ instead?". That's with the MIR. By default, partpicker includes the MIR in the cost.

Sure, the seller might grant you your wish and sell for a lower price. But he may also not do it, and if that happens, you are screwed, because now you can't afford the build.

Buddy, I didnt mention the 280X... You can get a used r9-290 on ebay for less than the cheapest 280x you can find. They are dirt cheap.

They were probably used for mining, they wouldnt last long, thats why they're cheap.

Careful with used 290s, they are usually used for mining

Yea, but as long as you dont play Crysis 24/7, you'll be fine.

Problem? I've got a "mining" 24/7 Radeon 6670. Still working to this date.

Although a used 970 should also be cheap, but never have the problem of mining.
