Hey guys, i am planning on modding my power supply and am planning on individually sleeving the cables. but i am unsure of the diameter of the sleeving needed for the cables. Can anyone who has done this before advise me on this issue ?

For individual sleeving the normal size is 4mm. You will need the proper tools and equipment however to get things to go smoothly, a good start is a pair of side cutter, pin removal tools, and crimps if you plan to make your own cables. Do remember though sleeving is a very time consuming task so it may be worth it to get it done by a 3rd party if you want fully custom designed sleeving.

Hi @Azzah44100

What power supply do you plan to sleeve?

I am currently looking at sleeving the Seasonic X-650, i am buying the pin removal tools with the psu but was just unsure of what diameter sleeving/HS to purchase. Would you advise paracord for a first time sleever?

4MM is the one to use. Paracord is not too easy for beginners, but the cables are alot easier to use with paracord PSU cables

Could you expand on this? Brevity may be the soul of wit, but surely it is the bane of instruction.

Do you mean applying paracord isn't easy, but the cables are easier to use after?

Unapologetic AMD fangirl. Yes, I'm biased. Yes, I know sometimes nVidia and/or Intel is an equal or better option. Yes, I try to keep it in check.

I still like AMD more.

Paracord is a bit harder to sleeve since it's extremely flexible material making the threading onto the cables more time consuming, there are threading tools which do help however. By easier to use afterwards it's because it's very flexible rope like it material it will conform to any shape you bend the wires to, for PET or plastic sleeving you need to train the cables overtime to keep their shape since the plastic tends to resist the bending but will soon get used to it.

Ok. So, application wise, more difficult. Routing wise, easier.

Wonder which looks the best...

It really depends on preferences I personally like PET sleeving since it a slightly coarser weave and doesn't have fibers like some paracord sleeving. There's also the heatshrinking where some like the heatshrinless look.

I wish I went with modguru or cablemods and not original Corsair cables :( they are stiff and hard to manage + the visible heatshrink kills it totally  :(

Newer too late :)
