Build Upgrade, Thoughts?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

i would like it to last longer so i would rather get a 980

It's generally better to get what you need now and just upgrade more often than spending more now and hoping it lasts longer--that is unless money is no issue.

In my current Build i've got a

AMD A10 6800K on a Asrock FM2A55M-HD+ and a Radeon R9 270 and it can run GTA V Well But While in a vehicle my frames Drop from the 40's to as low as 15 ( While Traveling along )

I think the CPU is under too much load and maxing out, because i monitor my Temps alot and GTA V has caused the CPU to get up to the highest i've ever seen it (ranging from 65 to 70 degrees celsius)

while my GPU just sits at a chilled 32 degrees celsius. I do not have a Aftermarked Cooler, and i am using the Stock Cooler, i was wondering when i get my new CPU to buy a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

If it helps my case is a Cooler Master Elite 335U, When i built my computer back in early 2014 it was just a low budget Gaming PC, Since i'm in australia prices are alot higher than the US, since then i've got my full time job that pays very well, i am able to purchase more expensive parts, i'am also considering going liquid cooling over the Hyper 212 Evo, and so i'm buying new parts and was wondering how these would perform?

Intel i7 4790 on a Asus B85 Pro Gamer

GeForce GTX 980

I don't like overclocking parts becasue it will void my warrenty, and i like having it just incase something fails

Please post your thoughts on the parts i'm getting, and even suggest a aftermarket cooler to buy

Thank you.

Alright then a 4590 or 4690 non k will be fine, paired with a 980/titan X

What about the cooler? should i use the stock one? or go aftermarket, i've been thinking about the Hyper 212 Evo from Cooler Master

Little reason getting aftermarket cooling if you're not oc'ing if noise isn't the issue.

Why not oc though? The warranty is still usable unless you leave some obvious burn marks and such.

Is money not really an issue? The 980 and 4790 aren't exactly great value components for gaming.

I can't control if a burn mark is on the CPU

As long as you are sensible with temps and voltages, that shouldn't happen.

What resolution are you playing on? You could wait if you are not in a rush, but I'm not sure if there will be a 980ti

just 1080p, i don't feel like going to 4K at this point in time

Money isn't a issue if the part isn't overpriced, i would go a 980 over a Titan X

Well yeah--you're comparing 'overpriced' to 'even more overpriced'.

Since i'm in Australia i would take the Galax GeForce GTX 980 at $669 over the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 at $800

If you have not been to Australia, you don't know Overpriced Computer parts

Parts don't seem that overpriced when taking into account Australia's minimum wage.

May look like that, but it's overpriced from an australians point of view

When Minimum Wages rise, so does Tax
