Hi everyone

I know that lots of people have asked the same question over and over but to make sure before making any decision

I have bought

dell optiplex 9020 mt

Processor Intel® Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

RAM: 4 GB

i am thinking of adding

1. another 4 GB of RAM
2. xfx R9 285 video card

I know that some of the question might be silly but my knowledge is not that good

1. Do i have to be concerned about the power generated by the power source because of the new video card?
2. after installing the new video card, is the built-in RAM useless
3. Is the video card that i chose suitable or not?

thank you

Welcome to the Forum.

1) I would be concerned about the power supply, I'd replace it.

2) No the ram won't be useless.

3) The 285 should be pretty solid, but you'd definitely want to change power supplies to a decent one, at least 550w.

Sig under construction.

1- Yes

2- the RAM in the system is independent of the memory in a video card.

3- It's ok, not the best, not the worst.

And this.

1. you need to get at least a power supply as what they mentioned 500w would be a safe choice in case of future upgrade.

2. No, the ram wont be useless and also its a good choice to add 4gb of ram more.

3. The GPU is suitable enough yes.
