In the UK, they technically don't have to pay you until you reach 16 anyways.

You may just want to volunteer at a local PC place until you reach that age. At least then you'll know the staff and have more experience.

It couldn't hurt and will build a reputation for my self.

My first job was pushing carts. Its really not that bad of a job if you can get that as your dedicated position. Get stronger, enjoy being outside not having to interact with annoying customers. Super good if they have an electric cart pusher (though they usually arent worth a damn in the snow). I took a couple cashier shifts and I couldn't stand it (literally my legs hurt worse after 3hrs standing there than they ever did pushing carts).

Keep in mind most cart attendant positions will actually have a list of duties other than that too. For example, my duties were

Carts, carry outs for heavy items/old people, cleaned restrooms hourly, took care of store appearance (basically picking up trash and making sure the cans aren't full), shovel snow, assist guests while inside the store, jumpstart cars, and several other random smaller tasks. Backup cashiering was one, but I rarely did it because if the registers were busy that meant a lot of carts were in use and going to the parking lot.

Edit: I worked at a very busy and larger than normal Target store, so there was a dedicated position for cart attendant. Many smaller stores have people that cashier and go get carts when needed.

If you work at a larger store and have a good work ethic it is really easy to prove yourself and get raises. Many of my co workers said that I was the best at my job, I actually became the trainer for it and had to re train the guy that trained me. My performance reviews reflected that. I kept my hours flexible and they eventually let me decide when I wanted to work and gave me 3x the standard raise (which still wasn't much of a raise).
