DX12 is kind of like the very optimised DX11 with very interesting features that the DX11 GPU would benefit from.

Probably just the optimization aspect of the new API. DX12 will bring new rendering effects that probably require a card that fully supports DX12.

 

As of now the only cards that fully support DX12 are Nvidia's 900 series Maxwell based GPUs.

Let's be honest, I doubt anyone will miss the new features that 900 cards support.

 

DX12 should support any card that is supported by DX11 at the moment.
