Hi, I'm going to college next year and I was just wondering: Is this the best laptop for its price point? (1300 USD)

I'm going into computer engineering, and I was just looking for a gaming laptop.

This computer seems to have the best internal specs out of all the stuff I've been looking at.

I prefer MSI and RoG.

There is no question that that Laptop would suit your needs as long as you can find a wall.

I'm thinking of doing a 2 computer setup with a cheap laptop and PC myself,

have you considered this?  It'd give you much faster stuff at home but you can bring the laptop around wherever.

I'm not sure about Cheap laptops and CAD though...

Ever thought of getting the cheaper version without an SSD and adding your own as it would be cheaper in total?

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

I was going to suggest another MIS gaming laptop to u but when I saw the price on it I was like "aint no body go the money for that"

personally I would say that your laptop is a very good deap for the money but again personally I would not sand the keyboard and (just cose I can) would carry a nechanical in my back pack as I hate those sooooo much

I was thinking of doing this too, I'm having trouble finding a capable enough laptop though, do you know of any??

I'd really like to do the desktop + laptop combo cause it'll give me a lot more flexibility and power.

Asus ROG is pretty much the best you can get for that price point.

I would HIGHLY suggest however going with AT LEAST a GTX 970m, or if you can afford it a 980m. While you CAN game on a 960m, don't expect 1080p high/ultra in any of the recent games.

Also, with the example you posted, I would buy the thousand dollar version, as you the only difference seems to be a 128Gb SSD and you can get way higher capacities for the remaining 300$
EDIT: nevermind, I see that the more expensive version also features an IPS panel, and that is quite a worthwhile investment.

I'd also look at the Alienware Laptop+DesktopGPU combo, especially refurbished/second hand ones. MSi also has something similar, but I'm not sure it's out yet.

RuneScape is still the best MMO ever made.

Program on Mac | Game on PlayStation | Homelab on Ubuntu

And Data Redundancy!  (Daily backups that you can access and update on both platforms)

As for the laptop, i'd go for some cheap one with a good battery life as I wouldn't do gaming on it but instead small stuff like plugging in a VGA cable and presenting or typing emails.
