Form & Aesthetics or Functionality

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

I mean they're both functionally the same with the only difference being space, one has more while the other has less... I can basically fit everything that I need inside the S340 though future upgrades might cause me some problems but heck, a CPU+Rad upgrade is still something that the S340 can handle quite well...so I'm still kind of torn.

I don't see what advantages the v31 has other than needless expandability. The S340 trumps the v31 in cooling, cable management, and compactness.

Quick correction if you were thinking otherwise: They're both mid towers.

ok, so I'm soon gonna buy a new case for my PC, and have found two similarly priced cases which suite all of my needs. Obviously each has its own advantage and disadvantages...so I wanted to ask you guys for your opinions on which case to buy.

The NZXT S340 or Thermaltake Core V31

NZXT S340

Pros:

  • small (would fit my desk snugly and has a professional aesthetic to it)
  • huge and clear window (shows all the goods)
  • decent cooling
  • amazing form factor (killer looks)
  • cable management shroud (innovative cable management design)
  • price

Cons:

  • small (less cable management space and room for bigger radiators or graphics cards despite its innovative design)
  • easily scratch-able surfaces including the window (refer to hardwarecanucks and linus' review)

Thermaltake Core V31

Pros:

  • mid-tower (gonna look like a beast on my desk)
  • huge and clear window (shows just about everything)
  • great cooling
  • large space for cable management
  • semi-modular design
  • price

Cons:

  • fairly large (bulky)
  • shows everything including PSU reducing in aesthetics.

so can someone share their opinions about this case? anything is welcome! :D

You shouldn't have to compromise either but if you do functionality should always win out.

There is nothing uglier than a product that isn't as useable as it could be because of aesthetics

IF you care that much, get a PSU shroud later down the line, it's what I did.

well I do know they're both mid towers, 'cept the S340 obviously has lesser space, and doesn't have the expandability the V31 has...which is kind of why I made this post. For peoples opinions wether to go for Aesthetics or Functionality...but anyways! thanks! I think I've decided to go for the S340! as it would look really gorgeous in my desk and have just about everything that I need with my setup! :D
