The thing is, without commentary you're just like anyone else recording gameplay and uploading it. To attract a fanbase you need to express a personality and produce content that goes beyond what you could get from watching someone else's video or playing the game yourself.

Some people actually want no annoying cam + voice and just want to see the game itself without playing it.

Then those people should buy the game. And again, there are already a lot of people who do this, and it won't create a fanbase. The people you're talking about have no interest in subscribing or really watching any other video from you, they only want to see that one playthrough.

Sometimes I just want the solutions without all of the commentary and the random screaming, but having said that, if there is a commentary (without random screaming) that I find compelling then I might actually view the stuff just for that?

I guess it depends on the audience you're trying to reach and the plan you have for reaching them? How you get the stuff in front of eyeballs while letting the people know what it is you're offering and how to get them to tune back in is probably the most important part?

If you're interested mainly in subscribers and building a following, then adding commentary is the way to go but that only really works if you're the kind of person that people are going to want to listen to? You can't really fake that kind of thing.
