Which one should I get?

Go to solution Solved by Jade,

The v300 series from Kingston are shoddy at best now. They sent out good review units then switched the memory controller, so performance is only a fraction of what the review units were. I'd personally get the WD Blue.

Hi there. My hard drive failed on me a few days ago (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/348559-hard-disk-smart-status-bad-error/?view=getnewpost) and now I have to buy a new one. But I was wondering, what if I get myself an SSD? So I went to a website called PC Express (The only reliable computer components seller here in the Philippines, in which I am currently here because I am on vacation), and I looked up SSDs and HDDs. The drives I will now list are the drives which caught my attention:

1. Kingston SSDNow V300 60GB SSD (PHP 2,300 = $52)

2. Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SSD (PHP 2,800 = $63)

3. WD Blue 1TB HDD (PHP 2,580 = $58)

4. Seagate 1TB HDD (PHP 2,600 = $59)

I am currently on a tight budget so I cannot spend more than $65 on a HDD/SSD.

Thanks.

Get the WD Blue, everything else isn't the best price for performance, i've had too many baracudas die on me and the v300 series from kingston are SLOW as FK.

They still faster than a HDD. So if he don't need more than 120GB of storage why not ?

And I agree Seagate HDD seems to fail more often then WD HDD.

I have now decided to purchase the WD 1TB Hard Drive. Reason? @SkywardKkalox and @Jade pointed out that the Kingston SSDNow v300 SSDs are slow, and @SkywardKkalox and @Viper9 pointed out that the Seagate HDD fail more often than the WD HDD. I'm gonna mark this as solved. Thanks for helping guys! I really appreciate it.
