I'm giving my CM Hyper 212 Evo to my GF for her Pentium-K and I'm in the market for a new cooler. I'm aiming at either a good air cooler or an AIO liquid cooler. I've taken a hard look at the Phanteks PH-TC14PE and the NZXT Kraken X61. But I'm not sure if AIO's do much better of a job over a good air cooler.

Based on my build seen in the attached photos, you'll see my overall look and RAM size, what would you guys suggest?

P.S. I'm running the stock cooler for now, and man, it is terrible. I can hardly run the CPU at stock speeds. Temps are hardly comfortable.

What kind of oc are you shooting for? If you're satisfied with your 212 Evo's performance, the Pure Rock performs slightly better while being much quieter: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk009

I easily achieved a 4.4ghz @ 1.220v with comfortable temps with the CM Hyper 212 Evo... I wouldn't mind a bit more, around 4.6-4.8ghz.

If you're doing it just for the clocks, here are some alternatives:

NH-u14s: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu14s

PH-TC14PE: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/phanteks-cpu-cooler-phtc14pe

NH-D15: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd15

Just a remind though: you'll probably be reaching the point of diminishing returns.

If you wanna OC more, AIO I guess? Usually they will cool much better compared to air cooler.

So far so good. Can't find anything I hate about it yet! The only "hate" was before they upgraded the software, now they have upgraded it, everything is really good.

Just to add some more insight into what you can get the 4690K overclocked with AIO.

I'm running a 4.4Ghz Overclock @ 1.15v. With a coolermaster Nepton 240m AIO, which is by far not the best, but quite cheap for an AIO. Idles at 22 Degrees and hits 56 Degrees under load with XTU.

Sure I could go higher with the overclock but I don't really have any need to for what I use the rig for.

I probably should have listed this here, but I've actually decided to go with the Corsair H100i. I was about to pull the trigger on the NZXT Kraken X61, but that plastic backplate turned me away from it.

EDIT: Installed!
