I am getting into geogrpahy and aviation in the next few months. I need a new computer. I am also thinking that it will be heavy on the graphics side because it is geography and aviation. If anyone has knowledge on what my build should be or knowledge on what i will be needing for this program, please help me out. Not really on a budget as of now. Please don't go overboard as i am preparing myself financially for post secondary.

LoGiCalDrm and SgtRafsta will an AMD build work? Just wondering.

Dunno about the GPU. Why not get one high end at first. Maybe even Quatro or Firepro if its going to be only for heavy work. I got some old Quatro on my work rig while back. And yes, AMD works also. But do make sure to go for 4+ cores.

GPU is obligatory, you could slot in just about any card for GIS. For AutoCAD I would find a used GTX 680 and save ~$100.

There is also plenty of wiggle room on the case, but the Enthoo Pro is king of the $100 price point IMO and leaves you a TON of expandability.
