Hey guys I'm thinking of upgrading my current setup & using the old parts as a media center PC.

The main purpose of this machine is for moderate-high gaming, Photoshop, After Effects & Premiere work.

Budget: No more than USD$700 - the less spent, the better. (not incl. Windows / peripherals)

Current spec:post-62386-0-72856000-1429204615_thumb.j

  • i7-2700k
  • Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P
  • Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB
  • Asus GTX 560Ti DCUII Top Edition
  • Corsair H80
  • Cooler Master Elite 431 Case
  • 500GB Seagate momentus XT
  • 2x1TB WB Blue
  • LG Blu-ray drive
  • Silverstone 650W (can't remember which model)

I was thinking of getting the GTX 970 but I'm worried bottle-necking might occur. So my question is, is the 970 a sensible upgrade? What other upgrades should I get?

A 970 is a very sensible upgrade. Also, if you're doing productivity work another 8GB of RAM couldn't hurt. I would also recommend maybe a CPU upgrade if you really feel it. You shouldn't experience any bottlenecking but that is still a bit of a dated CPU.

No, it wouldn't bottleneck.

Spending USD yet you're in Malaysia? Are you shipping parts from the US?

What kind of PS, AE, and Premiere work are you doing?
