Weird temperature readings

Go to solution Solved by Tedster,

Here's another quote from GTAForums:

TMPIN1 is possibly the same thing what is commonly referred to as AUX, which is either a meter not actually connected to anything, or it's some other data which is interpreted as temperature. Anyway, it's a common occurrence and it's nothing to worry about.

I have built my first computer and aside from first having some problems with the SSD (the basic file-structure was getting corrupted) I have not had any problems.

Now however I have started running CPU and memory intensive research on it and are getting very random crashes. I have tested the RAM with memetest86 and are now running prime95 to test the CPU. To monitor the temperatures I installed HWmonitor and I noticed something strange. TMPIN1 is reading -63C (has been down to -86C). I was wondering if that weird temperature reading could have something to do with my computer crashing and why it is showing such an impossible temperature.

Many thanks in advance

Benklint

Im running a GA-Z97X-SLI with core I5-4460 and 16GB of RAM

Welcome to the Forum.

Those temperatures obviously aren't correct, but that usually just means broken sensors.

Here's a quote from GTAForums...

i'm using HWMonitor to measure my temps on the PC.

everything is okay except for one reading. its 128 degree C.

TMPIN0 = 26 C
TMPIN1 = 128 C
TMPIN2 = 28 C

Sig under construction.

HWMonitor is crazy with temps sometimes

swap to SpeedFan to check temps

unless you know what you are doing

dont use Prime95 to test CPUs

it will overvolt the CPU if you set the voltage to adaptive

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Thanks for the quick answers!

It definitely seems to be something strange with that temperature as speedfan is showing the same temperature to be 127C. Good to know that I don't have to worry about it.

Overvolting does not seem to be a problem (cpu vcore is getting 1.008V). Do you have any other suggestions to test the CPU (or other parts of the build) as I'm trying to catch a crash that maybe happens once every 2-3days.

Any ideas for what I should try/test?

And once again thanks for the extremely quick replies!
