computer won't start, missing file CI.dll.

When I start up windows, it says that CI.dll is missing or corrupt. Could I replace it by copying an identical file to the hard drive from another computer?

You can use a USB, but you will need a product key

use a recovery disk, run automatic recovery and maybe itll fix it (probably not)

try the cmd in your recovery disk, navigate to your local disk (usually either C:, D: or E:. its usually not what you have when you are booted to your os, though) and running sfc /scannow /offbootdir=*the drive letter for your windows install* /offwindir=*the drive letter for your windows install*\windows

or, put drive in another machine with same OS and copy the file over.
