Hello,

When I am playing a game on my PC, sometimes it randomly freezes up and the whole system becomes unresponsive. I can't even move the mouse or do ANYTHING. Why is this? It only happens under moderate to heavy loads. The only game that seems to work ok is Minecraft. Answers are much needed! Please save me the trouble and money going and buying a new parts for my system if all possible!

There are a few things that I know are NOT the problem:

1. Dust buildup/Overheating. I just dusted my PC a couple days ago.( still freezes up) And it wouldn't be an overheat because if that were the case, the computer would shut off, not freeze.

2. SATA cable loose. Sometimes my PC has trouble identifying or recognizing the hard drive when it boots up. Like I said, it only freezes under load, and I can do anything from watching u2be to just typing and it doesn't freeze up on me.

Could potentially be caused by a failing hard drive.

The first step is to re-install windows, as it's completely free to do so and it will more than likely fix the issue.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Could it be a bad SATA port? Do you think it would be a good idea to try and switch ports on my motherboard?

you can try switching ports and also change the cables

also do a MemTest

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
