ok so long story short, would an EU firmware work on a BR unit of router? router in question is TL-WR740N V4.23

problem comes as i cannot try to flash it myself, as i've been trying to troubleshoot it for my gf who is in brazil at the moment. basically router keeps dropping connection every some minutes seemingly random, got her to update to latest BR firmare, however latest EU firmare shows as fixing PPPOE connection bug fix which causes constant fails to dial, where as BR latest FW available is version a fair bit lower. i've been suspecting ISP, however after updating firmware it does seem to happen less.

have dealt with few lower end tp-link products and grown a deep hatred for the tp-link name, as they've been nothing but problematic... i hear good things about higher end products from them, but honestly, will probably never touch em.

it does support openwrt, but again i wouldn't get her to install it, due to me not physically being there and it being tricky to walk her through setting it up, as she isn't that literate in the matter.

thoughts on the matter? maybe someone had encountered such issue with one of these?

Don't think it would be much of a difference probably locale and maybe a few settings.

You shouldn't run into any trouble. Just backup everything.

you can't exactly backup

if it didn't work...either it bricks the device..or it flashes fine..but wireless doesn't work....unless you change the settings  after

I meant the configuration. And there are ways of un-bricking the device. Since we mentioned this, why don't you try DD-WRT?

i would gladly put openwrt but it is far more involved than normal firmware. explained it in initial post. if it does brick, i can say bye bye to testies basically.

asking if the different locale would work mostly due to owning a few dlinks and it wouldn't take US locale FW update on a EU router. it would fail to verify the files or something like that.
