So I'm in the final stage of creating a final component list for build that I will be doing in the few weeks to come.

I want some final thoughts before I purchase the parts.

**I really want to know if the asus maximus hero VII can deliver what I'm looking for or fit this build, personally i really like it and it looks great and i know asus is well known for their MOBO quality and a very well design UEFI (even thou I'm not a gamer)

**Also I was advised to get a GPU, but i don't think i will need it as of right now, since i will not be doing any 3d modeling, but leave your suggestions, do i need a GPU with 2GB or 4GB ? i plan on getting one this coming summer nevertheless.

The PC will be mainly used to run engineering applications such as MATLAB, MS Visual Studio, Multisim ,other programming compilers, network apps. etc.

Occasionally I do some photo/video editing as a hobby.
I am a big fan of performance and astatic(looks) as well, i don't want a big plain black box sitting on my desk. I want to build something that looks cool and performs well.

*note: i already own a set of keyboard and 8GB Vengeance DDR3 memory

*where it says "final decision" next to the part, it means I'm getting it.

that motherboard isn't necessary even for gamers, as it really only has stuff like easier ocing, better ocing, and usually higher quality control, but that isn't worth the ~$100 imo, and that 100$ is nice to invest into the graphics card which you NEED! Because it's a XEON BUILD with no onboard video WHICH I POSTED IN YOUR OTHER TOPIC!!

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

That motherboard is not bad (it's great actually) but it doesn't fit the build. It's aimed at high end overclocking, with loads of software tools to help you out on it, great firmware for maxing it out, and a very overbuilt power delivery system to get the most out of those unlocked parts.

With the budget you are aiming at, and the applications you want to use, plus the enthusiasm for more power, why don't you get a 5820k ?(it's a 6-core part), a decent X99 mobo (all are pretty much), and some good cooler to keep it quiet and raise the clocks a bit.

@zlolslavez the E3-1246 V3 does have the intel HD graphics, but now that @ForsakenLive have suggested the 6 core 5820k i will definitely look into that.

But Im not looking to overlocking, is there an alternative for the 5820k ? Also I have to get DDR4 which is quiet expensive right now.

Do you guys think this GPU would be an overkill for this build http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-STRIX-GTX970-DC20C-4GD5-Graphics-Cards/dp/B00NJ9BJ8G/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1428980347&sr=1-1&keywords=ASUS+4GB+Graphics+Cards

@ForsakenLive any suggestion for an x99 mobo?

thanks for the response
