Crash when GPU under load?

Okay.... Probs, probs. I've got new RAM and a PSU, get that out there and this GPU is the THIRD one I have received. Whenever I start a game my computer INSTANTLY crashes, I can start a game on iGPU just fine. I can run stress tests on my CPU and RAM just fine but when I run it on my GPU it crashes. BUTTT, this is the third card, how can three cards be bad and they are being burned in before they send them to me. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE, this is driving me crazy!!!!! How can I test to make sure its not my motherboard? I already tried it in the other PCI slots, crashes in all of them.

If it required pcie power cables then the computer won't start without them plugged in.

 

 

 

@OP, make sure your powersupply can handle the powerdraw. I would get similar issues on my rig after i upgraded my gpu, and noticed after about 15minutes of being in game i would BSOD. My psu couldn't provide enough clean wattage to my gpu while it was under load.

What do you mean? The CPU and motherboard power plug? If you're talking about the extra molex and PCIe plugs that sometimes on boards, those are only there for SLI/Crossfire setups.

I'm assuming its the one in your sig, which is a seasonic, so i'm really doubtful that could be the problem. Perhaps the card is faulty >.> other than that, i can't think of anything.

 

For good measure, try going a few releases back in the driver list to a previous version to rule out "new-driver" problems.

Could it be my motherboard?? I just find it hard to believe after three cards none of them of worked.

Ok, that changes the ball park completely. Its most likely, either

• A. The powersupply being somehow crappy. (doubtful)
• B. The motherboard has got a faulty pcie slot. (try using another slot instead)
• C. Driver problems. (doubtful, but can't hurt to try)

I tried all the 2 out of the three slots, the third ones too low and the triple slot card wouldn't fit I don't think.

Try the card in a different system. If it works at load, then you know its either the mobo or psu.

Then install that psu into the test system. If it works then you know its the mobo. if it doesnt then you know its the psu.

Well then. that's a thing. Guess i just get used overtime to just having 4 or 5 dilapidated computers around me at all times, kinda forget other's dont.

lol, Yup. I want that white and blue X99 ASUS Deluxe one, since its white I wouldn't have to paint it and therefore it would be my first motherboard ever that I won't void the warranty on within 2hrs of receiving, lol

This is dependant on the motherboard. 

I have a GAEP45DS3 mobo and only have the 4pin and 24pin plugged in but it CAN have 2x4pins and the 24 pin.

 

 

 

 

My board is spray painted. Can't exactly return it

 

 

Make sure theres no paint in the PCIe slot, this should have been your first thought when using a spray painted board lol

Have you tested with a different GPU?

Do you have the power plugged into the GPU? (silly question ik).

Are you using any 4/6/8pin to Molex adapters? (if your PSU isn't operating on a single 12v rail then this could be an issue)

The only other GPU I have is a HD5450 (Would that work?)

Would a HD5450 work for another GPU or would I need to get something with a little more umph to stress test on?
