Linus' Sub-Zero build: RAM

So someone may be able to set me straight really quick, or maybe this is a dumb question. Feel free to let me know either way :P

He used the i7 4790k and 1866 RAM. On intel's webiste, they supported memory types are 1333 and 1600. Is that wrong? Or is there some sort of benefit to using faster RAM than is supported?

Thanks

Wrong section. I'd answer your question but I don't know for sure, I don't see why you couldn't use all the way up higher than 2000 RAM

The answer is simple, Intel puts a limit on how fast the memory can be, right now all Haswell have a limit of 1600 without overclocking it, but all the memory's manufacturers put profiles in he memory to make them faster that is called XMP, and the motherboard manufacturers allow those profiles to be used without problems

Here's what I am looking at:

http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz

And I am trying to spec out my new build and the 4790k is looking like my cpu of choice now. I was a hesitant by the memory specs that intel had until this. Thanks.
