gpu heat problem?

a friend of mine has a gtx980, and at boot it wil read 80-90 degrees celsius but it gets colder when the pc has ran for an hour (40-50 degrees) is this just temp sensors being what they are (innacurate peices of sh!t)?

(im pretty shure its just the temp sensors being all weird on him but he insists i ask you guys and girls)

Change thermal paste- could have been applied sloppily in the factory.

a 660 i had gotten for free had thermal paste on the back of the pcb and large amounts on the front of the pcb but none where it should have been applied.

Done the paste has been replaced and thurough cleaning the heatsimk fins did the job
