Thoughts on this Emachine?

So I was given this computer, it is an Emachine ET1831. I don't even know where to start with this thing, its able to do "BASIC" computing stuff but I find it to be lacking. Anyone have any ideas for what I can do upgrade this thing? I know I WILL need to swap out the PSU, but beyond that I am lost. Any tips would be appreciated.

Then you could upgrade it, but I'm not even sure if it's worth it.

If its motherboard supports an Q6660, or other quad cores of the same era you actually will have a decent rig on your hands. (Decent for its age that is)

The motherboard can only support 65 watts for the cpu, so the Q6660 is out of the question

I'm assuming you want to use it for gaming:

• Upgrade PSU(anything will be better, eMachines cheaps out on PSU's).
• Add GPU, 750(non ti) and below would be fine.
• (Optional) add SSD and/or better HDD.

This is assuming you want to keep the original motherboard, but if you don't, the sky is the limit pretty much.

Hmm, I'll see if its possible to upgrade it with better parts then, some decent motherboards that support any LGA 775 CPU can easily be found for less than a new computer, and even with a CPU and GPU in the equation you should spend well under what it would cost for a newer computer that can be easily inferior.

 Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 12MB 1333MHz SLB8V LGA775 Desktop Processor

CORSAIR CXM series CX500M 500W ATX12V

nvidia gtx 750

Maybe this will give this thing a swift kick in the ass?

I've found a brilliant overclocking motherboard for you, I'll PM the link so you can look at it first, but I've got the same motherboard and it is brilliant (Core 2 Extreme QX6850 @3.7GHz-didn't bother going further).
