I have an EVGA GTX 770 FTW and was wondering if there was a way to make a backplate for it as nobody sells one. Any thoughts?

As long as you are using non-conductive materials for the backplate then there shouldn't be a problem. As of methods for actually constructing a backplate i'm not quite sure. Be creative :D I got a 2D lasercutter at my school that is perfect for exactly this.

Making a backplate is possible you`ll need to have the proper holes for mounting and spacers to ensure clearance between the card and the backplate. Acrylic is probably the easiest material to work with and it's non conductive, I've seen others use thick 2-3mm aluminum but they require spacers to make sure it doesn't short circuit the contacts on the back of the card.

I have a FTW model which just happens to be the only 770 without a compatible backplate

I recently made a custom backplate for my 7850.

I measured up my card & then ordered a piece of metal of Ebay and had them cut it down for me.

I then wrapped it in a White carbon fibre vinyl wrap & then stuck a soft layer of foam to the bottom the avoid short circuiting.

Unfortunately my Graphics card doesn't have any mounting holes so I used some small double sided sticky square pieces used in card making.

This is definitely a ghetto way of mounting the backplate to the card but its work perfectly as long as you leave enough breathing room between the backplate and the card.

If you want to see any pictures let me know id be happy to post...

Did you think about asking if it was actually compatible? I had the same issue with my 760 not being listed as compatible and when I asked they said it was.
