i5 overclocking

Ik overclocking my i5. I tried moving up the multiplier to 42 so I get 4.2ghz. Then I set the voltage to manual to 1.22 volts. But before I overclocked the voltage went up and down with the usage but now it's pinned at 1.22 volts And 4.2ghz. is there an option where I can set the voltage to drop when the cpu usage isn't high and same with the clock speed ?

Im not at the computer but i believe the option is called adaptive voltage

either this or it will just say auto. also make sure your c states are in auto or enabled.

auto, should be the one, just don't run prime 95 as a benchmark stress test, it can higher the voltage just a tad. just for fyi, 4.3 is normally doable at around 1.2 volts or less (mine 1.15) at 4.4 we seem to need a lot more volts unless you get lucky. i use occt for my temps and stress test. also now folding at home.

that's the thing. On auto at even just 4.1 it ramps the voltage up to 1.35 volts

what motherboard do you have?

there may be something like voltage offset, make sure this is set to 0, and load line calibration can be set to max or higher than whatever is the normal setting.
