Out of those 2, I would pick EVGA

If possible, look into the MSI gaming or Gigabyte

Why?

You can get MSI Twin Frozr instead, it's good looking + great cooling.

Definately EVGA. I personally really like the understated look of the AXC cooler but it also does a really good job at keeping the thing cool and is very power efficient. That combined with the already decent clock speed it has out of the box leaves for some very proper OC'ing headroom.

Also by far and large their warranty and customer support is the best in the business. Standard 5 year warranty and you'd be hard pressed to void it. Take the whole thing apart, not a problem. Paint it, not a problem. Not pleased with the ASIC quality, get another one. Return it for whatever reason, not a problem. Then there's the Step-up program, Ear program and many more. When it comes down to things like this they really are a God amongst men. God bless you EVGA.

Hmm that does sound very good. I do like the way the card looks also. Would have to end up painting it white but that is not a problem. Do you know if they are a two slot card. I dont want 2.5 slot as that is too big.

That is very easily done. Actually I did so myself yesterday. It's a 2 slot card. Other than being relatively short they are also rather slim. Cramming two together increased the temps on the front one by 5 degrees, which is very manageable.

Also it must be said that not every rendition comes with a backplate included. Mostly the newer ones but those are a bit scarce on the 980 model -they do have nifty rgb leds built inside.

Tek Syndicate did a video of painting the thing white. It's an ACX 1 model cooler but the same principle still applies.

I already painted my two Jetstream 980's so doing the same with these would be not be an issue. It actually looks really nice in white so will probs go with these.
