On button doesnt boot comp

Hey guys, recently my computer is experiencing this problem

Pressing the on button (which usually boots your pc up right?) doesnt work

I have to like hold it down for a few seconds / mass spamming it for it to work....

Any solutions? My rig is in my sig!

The switch is probably broken.

Take out the switch and touch the positive and negative headers together with a flat head screwdriver and see if it turns on immediately.

You mean the pins on the motherboard?

Yep. The pins where the power switch is plugged into your motherboard.

Hmmm my father and my brother are electrical engineers.... Do you think that it is the soldering that is crap or the on button itself that sucks?

It should work unless there's wire damage. But I would bet that the soldering would do.

Yea you would need to take off the front of the case. 

The switch would look something like this but probably braided or colored black if you have a nicer case.

 

The soldering that most likely is bad is probably on the switch side.

Its probably the button mechanism being faulty and not closing the circuit to trigger the rig to turn on.

 

If you want a quick dirty fix, just wire the reset buttons to the power_on pins, and use the reset button to boot.

Not really. The switch is the same the only thing different is what pins you plug it in to.
