so even people with high ratings can be scammers. For example the starpickers shop do business on lelong, and they also seem to have a thread on the lowyat forums. ? I have no idea of the tech situation in malaysia.i used the search engine in lazada to search akg k612, and it gives me everything but that headphone...

Scammers are everywhere. Testimonies and votes can be false, and bought with money, so that's not an indication. That's why big 'serious' sites like ebay, and such have scammer protection, to get people to shop there with ease of mind.

yeah that's the 2nd retailer that carries the k612, the other one is starpickers. How would I know what is a trustworthy company, is there a thread in lowyat or something.

The most basic thing you can do is search online for keywords like scam, legit, etc2 and see if any of it is associated with the company. Also have a good read on their buyer protection policy. Try not to do large transaction at once to minimise the risk.

I searched up the starpickers, nothing too dodgy came up, they also have thread on the lowyat forums (https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2826004/all) and I think I can easily access their stores.
