yes, but lifespan can be 8 years of eeveryday use, so not to worry. just treat it nicely ( no drops ).

Hi guys, I currently have a dual boot system right now. I have 1 hard drive which is solely and enough for Windows 7(only for gaming). So for extra space I have a 1TB WD passport. Will gaming through my hard drive, in any way, decrease the lifespan of my External HD?

wait im confused which one gets a shorter lifespan?

Usually external, because you can drop it on the floor. But both should have similar life time, at same use.

Faulty switches on hard drive ( idk how they are called ) can be isolated by making partition on the spot, with programs,

but bad reading head must be replaced. So most times you end up with dead external because you dropped. 

At excessive use, hard drive does die over time, but that means years. Thats why 5 year warranty on some WD HDDs.

Also seagate is efficient.

Are you still using it as an external drive or just for gaming? You could take the drive out of its enclosure and stick it into your system for better speeds.
