Hey guys!

I planned to save up for the R9 270, but at the same time I see so many good things about the GTX 960. So should I continue to plan for the R9 270? Or should I pay the extra $30 and get the 960? I've heard that less people have display issues with the GTX 960, but the R9 270 has such a good price point for what it is?

Help pls!

Just get an R9 270. It performs nearly (80%) as well but you can get them used here in the States for less than $100 if you look hard enough.

Wait, a $30 gap? Just get the GTX 960 then.

the 960 outperforms the R9 270, if you can spare the extra 30 dollars, get the 960

Is the 128-bit memory bus on the 960 sufficient for 1080p? Forgot to mention: Aiming at high to ultra settings on 1080p.

The GTX 960 is better positioned to do Ultra at 1080p. The memory bus is sufficient.

Considering you are (well considering) a R270, then you should probably pick up a 280X as it is around the price point of a 960 and the extra 1GB will help you out. (Get 960 4GB version if possible but extra priced 280x is already cutting it.

most definitely, the 960 is posed to be a killer card for slightly budgeted 1080p gaming rigs, although ultra settings with 30ish+fps may not be guaranteed on some of the more graphic intensive titles

Should I go for a used 960? Or should I wait until prices drop?

Between the 270 and the 960. Go with the 960 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_960_g1_gaming_review,17.html

What price is the 960 you are looking at? a 960 and a R9 280, R9 285 or even R9 280x should be close to the 960's price (perhaps a bit cheaper)

System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Motherboard : Asus B550 Wifi II RAM 80GB 3600 CL 18 2x 32GB 2x 8GB GPUs Vega 56 & Tesla M40 Corsair 4000D Storage: many and varied small (512GB-1TB) SSD + 5TB WD Green PSU 1000W EVGA GOLD

You can trust me, I'm from the Internet.

Yes, the memory bus is even enough to power higher amounts of VRAM as displayed with the 4GB variants.

The R9 280X is the only GPU better than the 960, but only marginally, and it's typically $20-60 more expensive, depending on the brands you choose.

The R9 285 and 280 often meet or fall behind the 960 in performance, with the 285 being more expensive and the 280 around $10-20 cheaper.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

If your gonna do 960, do the 4gig VRAM or you will just hit a VRAM brickwall within the next year or so with more modern games. THe gigabyte model will let you overclock the bejesus out of it with the better cooler so you will get better moneys worth

I'm getting the Gigabyte version (non G1) for $199.99 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Overclocked-GDDR5-Graphics-GV-N960WF2OC-2GD/dp/B00SD9KZA0/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1428449289&sr=1-5&keywords=gtx+960)

Gigabyte's just so reliable, not to mention their design is awesome.

You'll just have to likely tweak down your settings in the future once you hit that 2gig VRAM wall is all
