Hi I am building my first computer for video editing and I have a $2500 budget. I am just going to be editing gaming videos for YouTube and I am wondering if the Intel i7 4790k quad core processor is enough or if I should go for the Intel i7 5820k 6 core processor. any advice is appreciated thanks.

The 5820K will be faster at editing. Id'e get that personally.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

i7 9700K (5.2Ghz @1.2V); MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC; Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200 CAS 16; H100i RGB Platinum; Samsung 970 Evo 1TB; Samsung 850 Evo 500GB; WD Black 3 TB; Phanteks 350x; Corsair RM19750w.

Laptop: Dell XPS 15 4K 9750H GTX 1650 16GB Ram 256GB SSD

Spoiler

Will the PC only be for video editing?

If it is, it may be beneficial to step up to the 5820K, but the cost of DDR4 and X99 Motherboards will increase the cost of your build compared to using the 4790K and DDR3 w/ a Z97 Motherboard. But your budget leaves lots of room for that, so don't worry.

However the 5820K would perform better in Video Editing and should be good for what you are doing.

Choosing one over the other here won't make a massive difference for gaming, as most games nowadays only use so many cores.

But there will be other replies, so read theirs too and use all the advice.

If you want better render times. get the i7-5820k. if you want to save money get the i7-4790k. it will still have decent render times.

With a $2500 budget you can get pretty much the best of the best, so if you think your channel is worth it, then get the highest performing parts.

Need recommended builds?

Do you already ahve a build you are thinking about?

Just to throw it out there.

Here is a possible $2000 Build that features the i7-5820k, 64GB of ram, and plenty of storage to start with. It should run pretty quiet while not under load (while not rendering) as well, so you can have a quiet work environment.

I will say it's quite hard to hit a $2500 build.
