Sli 780 or wait

Go to solution Solved by MrBucket101,

congrats on 1000

and i see about the 780ti

you think its even worth getting another 780 to try and attempt 4k ?

Depends on how cheap you get your 780, and if your next monitor is going to have g-sync or not. With 4k being so demanding I think that would drastically improve your overall image quality, even at the lesser FPS.

I'm 100% certain it's already been done. I'd poke around the forum or even linus' old videos to see what kind of benchmarks they got.

Or you could google around.

If it were me, I'd buy the monitor before the second GPU.

Hey guys,

I currently have a asus 780 that i have oc and runs all my games (primarily Battlefeild) at 80 fps on 1080p

i am going to begin upgrading my water cooling and am wondering if i should pick up another 780 now because im looking towards 4k.

The new asus Swift 4k IPS comming out will be the only contender bc of mt love towards ips panels and strive for 4k.

My question is to get 780 to go sli and oc and get playable fps or hold off with 1 until better cards come out in the future (1000 series and 300 series).

Just some thinking about the future :)

I'd be a little hesitant on 4k TBH. Maybe for gaming but I tried one yesterday and while they look awesome, the scaling is awful. I hope Win10 fixes those problems because I found it unusable.

But as for SLI. It's pretty great, sadly not all games support it though.

I run Dual 780 Ti's too and they are pretty insane. I'm running DSR 4k on a lot of games. Native 1080p60 tho, I need to get a better monitor...

Never had issues with 3GB VRAM. Only game that hits it is SC, but that hits it on every setting and doesn't cause problems.

hehe, the name of my card is actually 780ti dual classified, it refers to the dual bios switch onboard. Confusing I know =\

I just bought the Acer XB270HU, so I'll be moving up to 1440p. I can't imagine I'll have any issues running the games I play. BF4/BFHL, Dying Light might be tough, but it's just horribly optimized. Might have to drop down from Ultra to High, but I won't mind.

I might look into adding another 780TI down the road, but my biggest issue is that I have the Classified version from EVGA. It's got one of the highest stock clocks around, and I've also added on another +150MHz to the core clock. I haven't been able to find any Classified on the market, so any 780TI I add to my system will force me to remod the bios on my classy so it doesn't leave the other card in the dust lol #firstworldprobs

EDIT: 1000th post w00t
