Hey

I´m new here and kind of a hardware noob so be gentle, please :D

I currently have a AMD Radeon HD8670D + R7 240 Dual Graphics cards, and I´m thinking about upgrading to a XFX Radeon R7 260X 2 GB, because someone on AMD Gaming forum recommended that card exactly. Don´t have the money for it now, so I´ll wait, lel.

Since the XFX card uses the same AMD Catalyst Control Center software, which I already have installed, can I just connect the new card and my driver will automatically detect it, or do I need to change some settings within BIOS or Windows when I launch the computer after the upgrade? Sorry if it sounds nooby but I´ve never tried it before :P

Thanks!

You will need to fully remove your current drivers before the upgrade. Use DDU. The drivers for the 260x will be different from the 240. After they are removed install your new graphics card and update the drivers for it. It should detect it automatically when you plug the card in, otherwise you will need to enable it in the BIOS.

OK, how much money can you spend, I dont necessarily trust people on the AMD raptr thing.

Like I said, I´m currently unable to spend any, but I suppose like 3-400 bucks when the time comes. No rush.

And I suppose the XFX R7 260X driver is available free somewhere?
