would a cable like this

 


 

work for connecting 2 pc's to one keyboard and mouse

 

(This must b correct  :) )

 

Also would this add much noticable latency

Umm first off why?

And that connector may not work since it has one as a power lead and data lead the power one might only have two wires to provide extra power only.

one main pc for gaming, one pc for installing dodgey programs on (a kind of decoy)

 

basically saving my good pc from bad programs

Get a KVM switch.
These are pretty great, i have 4 of them. I love them.

The usb adapter is not for that use it connects  to 2 usb ports to increase power to usb device.

Only the usb with the orange ring is for data the other only supplies power
